The class is not intended solely to help the
students learn to recognize the songs of nesting birds in Boulder
County. Rather, a major goal is to help students obtain a broader
appreciation of bird song. One aspect of this is recording songs with
the aid of a parabolic microphone as shown in the picture. The songs
can then be studied and interpreted using the framework suggested by
the class text:

The pictures on the accompanying pages were taken during the class by Geoge Oetzel using a hand-held Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30 camera. Each link below yields a page with several pictures. I'm experimenting with various ways to display pictures, menus, etc. Please let me know if you have any difficulty seeing the pictures, Including browser and operating system info.
