Belize Tour: Feb 13-Mar 1, 2006

Pictures on these pages were made at 3 resorts, plus the Lamanai Mayan ruin. The resorts are shown approximately on the adjacent map. Birds Eye View Lodge is located at Crooked Tree. I've added a star and text at the approximate location of the Chan Chich lodge, which is located in the plaza of a Maya ruin that was excavated and reburied. The duPlooys Jungle Resort is near the Xunantunich Ruins.

The pictures are mostly birds. Photographing them was my joy during the trip.

Want to go to Belize without renting a car or hiring a full-time guide? It's easy to do. Each lodge will arrange to get you to any other lodge or to/from the airport, with birding along the way. If you let them know you're interested in birds, there's a good chance you'll get a driver who knows the birds and is very observant. To get started, just follow the links to the lodge Web sites on the pages with the pictures.

George made all the bird pictures with a Panasonic DMC-FZ30 "superzoom" camera. Most were hand held, and most were taken using the 5 M-pixel size, rather than the full 8 M-pixels. Marti took some of the other pictures with our older Canon Powershot S30.
